The Walkley Awards are the pinnacle for Australian journalists and press photographers each year. As well as awarding gongs to the best writers in the country, there is also a photography category.
You can see this year's finalists in this gallery. Talk about inspiring photography, and having the skill to capture these moments in what can sometimes be the most dangerous, tragic or momentous situations!
